Should Northern Voice Have a Wikipedia Entry?

This is a topic that arose among the organizers recently--should NV have an entry in Wikipedia? We think so, but of course, we're biased. BloggerCon has an entry, and I figure we're as notable as that conference.

Of course, because of our bias as organizers, we shouldn't create such an entry. You, on the other hand, can, if you think the conference merits such an entry.

If you're going to do so, you'll need some background and verifiable third-party references. Voila:

You'll need some mainstream media references, to demonstrate notability:

There's definitely more coverage--I just don't have it easily at hand.

If you do decide to create an entry, drop us a line via the contact page.

Playing by the rules

Ah, Wikipedia's rules... Instead of linking to the hundreds of blog entries about Northern Voice, we're supposed to link to mainstream media, including articles that are behind a paywall. This is much more authoritative - referring to an article that blocks access when you try to read it.

Sealed

Maybe Wikipedia should create an index of "credible blogs" and "incredible blogs". There would be prestige in being included in one list or the other.

I took a first stab at it.

I took a first stab at it. It could use some more loving, but it's a start. I should be safely objective, being uninvolved with planning etc...

Nice work...

I've made a few changes and added some links, which is about all I'm allowed to do under Wikipedia's guidelines (being associated with the entry).

hmmmm

interesting idea db and great suggestions for links and stuff. would be great to see it happen. i've never added anything to wikipedia myself i don't think, though i have edited existing articles.
