Moose Camp

How Moose Camp works

Moose Camp is just around the corner. We're finding that not everybody is familiar with the concept, so here's how it works in a nutshell: Moose Camp is an unconference like Bar Camp Vancouver and it's where you get to lead and participate in sessions about what you are passionate about. All you have to do is put your thoughts on the wiki and show up at the Moose Camp scheduling session which is the very first session at Moose Camp on Friday Feb 23.

Here's how Moose Camp works in detail for those who want to know:

  1. People put their thoughts for possible sessions on the wiki
  2. The first session of the day at Moose Camp is the scheduling session. We place sessions on the grid at this session based on the wiki and who's at this session. You need to be at this session to make sure you get on the grid. The organizers try to merge sessions that are similar and generally shuffle the grid around to accommodate everybody.
  3. After the grid is finalized, we go around the room and give people 10 seconds to talk about their session and then away we go!
We're excited about the session ideas already on the wiki and can't to see what else people come up with! See you at Moose Camp on Friday February 23!

Sliding doors and remembrances of Northern Voice 2006

To me, there's a straight line that leads from Boris, Avi Bryant and myself meeting at a Geek Dinner in February 2004 to Avi's meeting of Debbie Landa at Northern Voice Moosecamp 2006 to Dabble DB's winning of Best in Show at Under The Radar to Dabble DB's funding! If Boris and I hadn't met Avi in 2004 would he have shown up to Northern Voice and would he have met Debbie Landa and would Dabble DB have gone to Under the Radar? Maybe, maybe not !

Here's how the line looks in my mind:
